About Serve the City

Serve the City is a global movement of volunteers showing kindness in practical ways to people in need.

We partner with homeless shelters, refugee centers, orphanages, and other associations offering help and support. Serve the City creates events that mobilize many volunteers to serve in simple ways – sports, music, arts and crafts, meals, friendship and more.

We are the connection between the good intentions and talents of people who could volunteer and a meaningful opportunity to get involved. And that’s where it starts. We cross the line from where we are and serve. But that’s just the beginning. The dream of Serve the City is everyone serving. As soon as possible we invite those we have met while serving to join us, because what we really want is to cross the line together.

Serve the City is for everyone. It’s a revolution, a serving revolution. And it’s going to change the world. We know them by their needs. What if we knew them by name?

Our vision

Serve the City Berlin organizes mostly short term projects. These are not complicated. It is very easy to come along and serve. Serve the City´s goal is to make it as simple as possible for each person to serve. Therefore we organize short term projects and so called “action days”. STC Berlin supports social initiatives in the city by coming along side them.

Through serving together, bridges are being built between volunteers, social initiatives, and marginalized people. Serve the City helps to minimize barriers between people and to enlarge the vision for the city. To serve makes you move.

Corporate Volunteering

Serve the City has many years of experience in working with companies and organizations wanting their work teams to spend a day or half day serving together. This so called Social Day can include practical or social projects where your drive, knowledge, and expertise can make a difference in people’s lives.

We organize Social Days for small groups from about 5-10 people or larger groups. We are very flexible. Please contact us to hear about our conditions and what we offer.

International Leadership Team

Serve the City International (STCi) is the supporting organization that helps promote, connect, start, and provide resources, vision, and support for Serve the City teams around the globe. The International Leader Team (ILT) is what makes this work and is made of three teams. The ILT meet regularly throughout the year, assess city needs, and take care of leaders in various ways.

Global Operations Team

The Global Operations Team (GOT) is the team that provides resources, keeps our websites running, and manages training which is available to all volunteers and leaders involved with Serve the City.

Global Executive Team

The Global Executive Team (GET) provides direction, vision, and keeps us on mission to put our values in action. The GET is responsible for coaching, city networking, leadership development, and overall member care.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors (BOD) is responsible for governance, oversight, transparency, and accountability to fulfill the mission of Serve the City.

City Leaders & Core Teams

Serve the City would not exist without passionate city leaders. Every City is unique and city leaders are people with a passion for their city. City leaders work with a core team of volunteers who help develop and lead activities, projects, and events to make an impact in their cities. City leaders are the core of our movement and mission!
